went to leave work and NO START
I have a 1999 Superduty that had a cracked block so I changed out engines with a re-manufactured engine out of a 2001 F-450. It ran OK, but when I towed my jet-ski's up a hill on the freeway, it smoked pretty good but seemed to quit after leveling out and driving easy for a few miles. The smoke seemed to be more grayish then white, definetly not black but hard to say when your trying to pay attention to driving. Went home after skiing, went to work, went to leave work and it cranked fine but wouldn't start. The truck had sat for a while with a half a tank of fuel and the water in fuel lite was on. Checked the oil level, it was low so I added oil, checked the high pressure oil, it was low also so I filled that up. Drained the filter bowl, changed filters. Changed the CPS. There are no codes. The wait to start lite comes on and goes out, the only idiot lites that stay on is the temp, oil level and the battery, but I figured the battery lite was on because I had to charge both batteries from trying to start the rig so many times. I borrowed a scan tool, not an expert by any means with it but it's not giving out any codes other then letting me know the batteries were disconnected and the water in fuel. No blown fuses, disconnected the heater plug-in. Soooo frustrating, so many sensors, where to start... Any help would be great. Thanks

Just tried
Just unplugged the IPR sensor and still there is no smoke out of the tail pipe nor any smell of fresh smoke or diesel. I'm trying to borrow a scanner but I have a simple code reader and it says no codes. Thanks though, I've been trying unplugging and plugging back in each sensor but at least I have an entire cracked block engine sitting here in which to pilfer parts.

OK
I'll do that unless a miracle happens, then I'll do it anyways. Probably closer to 5. Talk to you then.

Thanks Joe, a miracle was answered. Joe just happened to be 15 minutes from my house, in town on business, so he stopped by with his bad-*** truck, computer and a whole lot of knowledge and got my truck to fire and told me it was probably a faulty CPS(Lord knows Ford should do something about those worthless things). I took my old one out of bad engine, it only had a couple hundred miles on it but I guess that was enough. Joe thinks that simple running the onboard tests, probably the injector test just made something click and she fired. I don't really care how or why just that it happened. Thanks millions Joe, for him to offer and come help like right now was great.

Not a problem, I hope that is all it is. It is an electrical issue, CPS seems the biggest culprit, but it could be a PCM/IDM issue as well.
I'll be around for at least another month or more, if you have anymore problems give me a call!

Hey Joe guess what, same thing, same place but this time I had to walk home, 7 miles. Maybe the truck just doesn't like Fife. I went to the dealer and put in a new CPS so the issue must be one of the others we talked about. I tried to call and left message. If you could give me a ring that would be great
