Stock airbox question 99 f350 7.3
I wanted to know if there is a way to get more air into my stock airbox? Can I cut a hole on the side near the fender wall??? It just seems that the small inlet pipe that goes into the stock airbox now is blocked. I don't have any money to spend that this time to get a cold air intake. Could I remove the stock box, get a pipe, put on a air clearer filter and do that? Or would the heat from inside the truck be bad for it. I dont have side or hood vents on my truck either... Anyone got any tips... Please remember that I'm a cheap son of a gun right now ..

Well.....
The stock airbox flows enough air to support the potential 310 RWHP that your truck can produce. The only reason to replace the stock airbox is because of non-OEM aftermarket drop in replacement air filter sealing problems. Ford's air boxes are not the most friendly designs for aftermarket filters (WIX, Fram, etc. included) and oftentimes allow dirt to pass though the sealing surfaces of the airbox when non-Ford filters are used.
You can put on a Tymar style filter setup and alleviate all dirt problems.
