Default EGT!!! which Mod is best???

I've been looking at a couple options to improve the EGT when towing my fifth wheel.. Not lacking power, but when I get stuck in construction w/ a head wind, large hills and not being able to "run" at the hills, I am passing 1K temperatures fast!! now 1K isn't bad but the temputure was only 65 outside and I can't wait to see what happens when it gets to 90+ degree days and I try these same roads again!! The truck runs GREAT 70+ MPH with EGT about 700-800 and the tranny about 160 degree but once I don't have momentum both are moving quickly up the gauge(s).

Now what I am trying to figure out is to add meth/water or upgrade to a stock 6.0 intercooler?? Why I am undecided is because of the large amount of people who used to run 6.0 intercoolers who are selling them because they end up using a Spearco intercooler instead of the stock 6.0 for $1500???? I don't know if a stock 6.0 intercooler will be just enough or will I end-up still to hot and regretting not leaving the stock 7.3 intercooler and use some one like Coolmist for a better solution for EGT?? If money was no option I would do both and run the truck hard but I really need to just stay under $1k for this fix!!!

I am going to upgrade the exhaust housing from the 1.0 to the 1.15 once I get one, but Garrett must still be back-ordered for the 1.15 housing?? (or at least they have been the past 2 months since I purchased the 38r?)

thanks

Sounds to me you have no issues... Drive it. If the EGT's start climbing then shift out of OD and spin that motor to 2800+... RPM's kill EGT's.

6.0 IC is a waste of money IMHO. Water injection is great, but I dont see where you need it right now.

"Sounds to me you have no issues... Drive it." that's the nicest way I have ever been called a *****!!!

I read what I wrote again and it doesn't sound too bad? But when I'm only 1/2 way into my throttle, the EGT's are 1250+ and I'm still loosing speed going up hill(with it out of OD) I worry about things!! (I did say the temperature was only 65!! outside)

In slow traffic, I have to "crawl" up the hill driving as hard as my tranny and EGT's will let me. I hate driving easy when the truck has plenty of power!!

I WILL GET THE WATER INSTALLED FOR MY NEXT TRIP!!

thanks

What are your mods? Honestly, with a chip, intake and exhaust you should be able to tow anything you want without EGT issues.

The only time I have to run my water injection is at high altitude and heavy towing. Thats with 250/200% hybrids and a Modded H2e.

Mods: 38r w/ 1.00 (out of 1.15), Hi-flow outlet, EBPV delete, Bellowed Up-pipes, Donaldson intake, ccv delete (racor 4500), 4" SS exhaust, and ceramic coated all hot-side. Bullydog program (I know crap!! but we all learn as we go!!) ran this on "tow". I am pulling about 13k when this happens. stock injectors and this is an 02' (there is NO boost leak I promise!!!)

Unless you are enlighten by something new, I will just get the meth/water and then have your friends at PHP set me up with a better program!
