Default fuel line removal

i cant get the "quick connect" apart on the fuel line going to the engine from the tank. the one right after the pump and the one on top of the tank. i undid the metal clip and thought it would just pull apart, but i cant get it to. please tell me what i am doing wrong

ther is a special tool u need disconnect them they sell them at auto zone its two half circle that clamp around the line and u push the tool up into the fitting which realeses it. i have been there and for me it was a pain in the butt, and there was nothing quick about it. I'm sure if you were a tech and used them every day they would be quick but for the driveway mechanic they suck.

o and one more thing dont destroy those metal clips like i might have because one day you'll be driving down the road wondering why you smell diesel fuel, and why your fuel gauge is dropping adnormibly fast.
