Does anyone know if the check engine light will come on if a 2002 F350 7.3 needs an oil change?

The reason I asked is because my Dad and I flew to Texas and drove it back for the 1100 mile trip.
They said oil was changed but you never know. We checked fluids all looked good. His light came on today on his way to work that's why I asked.

 

was he maybe rodding it a bit?

 

I doubt it. He is all about getting the best MPG as possible.

 

I would get the codes checked. If the light is on and staying on then there is something wrong.

 

yeah then do what CSIPSD said, check the codes and figure out what they are, there is a forum on here with all of that stuff on it
