try lookn at your crank sensor. that will cause a long start/no start issue, probably not just on cold start but its worth looking into an i think there around $35.00 from ford dealer. i believe there was a recall out for them a while ago

Thanks for that info...I am trying to find a code reader to see if there any codes showing up. I do have a recall sitting in front of me, and it's for a Camshaft Position Sensor But the letter doesn't say what the symptoms of a bad Sensor may cause. The oil that I put in it does not say it's recommend for a diesel, however, neither did Mobil 1
My truck has less than 65000 mi, not 6500.00 sorry.

i would do the recall an see what it does because the camshaft sensor an crank sensor will both cause starting issues. im sure the recall will do the trick. also what weight of oil did you use?

I can't remember what weight I used, however, It was a maul-ti weight and I KNOW it would have been something close to 10W 30 or 15W 30

Thanks Kyle....I will check to see if the Tach moves when it's cranking. Also, I am at my other garage ware I did my oil change, and the empty one gal. containers are still here, I used Valvoline synthetic 10W 40W. Other than a thicker oil causing the engine to turn over slower (which mine does not, it turns over just as it always has) is there any other problem a higher viscosity oil may create, to create a "hard to start when cold" problem on this 7.3 diesel.

OK..... I will first make sure all my glow plugs are good, and check for any trouble codes, but that wont be till middle of next week. If anybody else has experienced this problem, or have any ideas, please chime in.

Wouldnt hurt just to change the oil anyway and put in some rotella 15w 40 or something that you are sure is diesel rated. I run rotella 5w 40 full synthetic myself.

Yea...It still looks clean enough that I could still use that oil in other equiptment, I just may do that.
