Default Braking Troubles

Four years ago this 2000 F250 SD 4x4 truck had a right front braking problem while bringing my son home from daycare. The right front brake was sticking to the point of the steering pulling to the right and even the aluminum wheel was hot to the touch. I could see heat smoke coming from the wheel area out the passenger window.
I let it cool about 45 minutes and was able to get the truck home about 2 more miles.

At that time I thought, the right front caliper was sticking, so I replaced both front calipers and both front rotors and both front pads.

Since that repair I still have what I describe as the right front brake is still grabbing harder than the left. It hasn't ever been as serious as the day the wheel was extremely hot but it is enough to need to input a little left steering to make the truck brake in a straight line.

I really don't want to trust a professional shop as the last time I did in 2002, a nationally known brake repair shop told me that the brake rotors cannot be removed unless the hub bearings are pulled from the spindle. I now know this is a load of BS, all that needs to be done is remove the brake caliper and the caliper mounting bracket. 200 foot pound torque setting on those bracket bolts.

Any suggestions?
Thanks,
PSD Interceptor

yes during the repair I replaced the slides and used high temp grease in the slide guides. I used a pistol barrel brush to clean out the slide guides. This was one of the complaints I had to the nationally known brake shop, they didn't even lube the original slides when doing a "complete" brake job.

It will be worth a recheck on my part to take both front calipers off and check the slide function again.

thank you 92typhoon937!

Def. sounds like a caliper sticking. My wifes 2000 had the same problem but on the rear. I put all new calipers/rotors/pads, and checked all the lines. Fixed the problem for me. And them caliper slides will wreak havoc also. I know sometimes you buy Reman calipers from the parts store and they are junk. have to go through 2 or 3 before you find a good one . Good luck
