Default odd temperature numbers

hey guys put the truck up on my scanner (00 F-250) and i saw some temp numbers that seemed real odd. both my air intake temp and my engine coolant temp say -40 degrees...-40. and i have 2 different oil temp readings, one seems okay and the other one was at 235 degrees before the truck was even warm. could any of this be the cause of my low mileage lately? btw the truck is a manual.

You mean to say that it hasent been -40 in florida.... JK. It does sound like a bad connection or bad wire somewhere. You could start at the connections at the ecm pull them out check them for hot spots or corrosion and then plug them back in tightly. From there not sure with out seeing more data from the scan tool and just tracing it in a wiring diagram and seeing which sensors are out of range and what wire that they all have in common.

Well with them its kinda making me think that you might have a connection prob, dirty terminals, or ground circuit prob intermitantly where it is setting soft codes and not a hard fault code did it set a CEL or was you just looking aroud with the scanner or was there a prob that caused you to scan the truck?

What are you using to get these readings?

first thing to do is unplug every plug you can find and fill it with dielectric grease. plug them back together and try again...

IAH is not a big deal, could be a relay issue there.

intake temp is also not a hugh deal... oil temp is... oil temp sender is in the High pressure oil res, about 2" down on the back side.

i am using a matco determinator and its my scanner so every once in a while i just check codes etc. i do have some oil on the ICP connector but according to the scanner the voltage and % is normal. is there usually 2 oil temp readings like i got? if oil temp is low (-40) what will the pcm do? add fuel?

Oil temp low will add timing... not good...

Your ICP sensor is not the issue. Its the oil temp sender. In the HPO res, not in the drivers side head.

Really high could cause bad milage... Un plug the sensor and see if the readings change....
