Default turbo blowing oil

this is for my buddy his turbo is blowing oil into the intercooler.
what is a good replacement turbo since I don't know ford diesels very well
I was told he needs a new intercooler also due to the oil in it
or
how hard is it to rebuild a turbo. my friend has done a couple but his odds are not good

I hear its hit or miss for accomplishing it successfully

99.5 f350 tows very often 13k range

How does your friend know the turbo is blown? It is quite normal to have oil on all the boots from the turbo to the IC and back. It is due to the CCV vent in the factory location. I very much doubt it is a turbo issue.

if it is dripping oil on ground sounds like he has a bad i/c boot so if there is a power issue its the boost leaking out the boot and not because of the oil. just my two cents though, and if this is the case he should get a i/c boot/clamp kit for like 150 bucks and replace all four and buy or make his own ccv reroute kit. like i said my two cents and there are guys on here that know a buttload more than i do and they will chime in and tell you what they think

towing hard like that will deff get oil into the IC pipes. So will a cloged airfilter. Just do a ccv mod on it clean your boots well with some brake clean wipe it off quick tho some of that stuff will swell the boots. I have had this problem befor. The oil in your inter cooler just let it burn out.

if the filter is clogged and you run it hard, it will start suckin more than just the CCV gases into the intake... it will suck oil in too... trust me, i know... and you get a fair amount of oil in the intake from the CCV anyway.... reroute the CCV, clean the boots (and you can pull the IC and clean it out like i did) and report back... like said before, bet thats what it is...

unless you have a ripped boot (not good at all) the oil leak is from something else... maybe the oil feed and drain orings are leaking? could be anything.... where exactly is it leaking? back of the motor, front, where?
