If your glow plug relay is intermintant I would bet its a wire harness issue. frayed or otherwise...

I'm not too familiar with the Ford only variants, seeing as how I deal with true blue Internationals. We get some Fords to work on from time to time. And yes, you are correct about the blue sensors retarding the timing.

Today I got the part # for the new OEM International replacement grey sensor from the parts department at work. The number is 1885812C91.

I also grabbed the troubleshooting sheets for the 6.9L, 7.3L, T444E(7.3 Powerstroke), VT365(6.0L Powerstroke), the T/S for the solid state glow plug system (on later 6.9 & 7.3 IDI engines), and the basic engine wiring diagram for the 6.0/VT365.

I'm going to start scanning them shortly, and I'll post the T444E sheet in this thread. I'll post the rest tomorrow, but I don't know which area I should post them in... Any suggestions?

Well, this sucks. I didn't think to check the attachment size limits before I scanned this. The file is 1.69MB and is too large to post here. For the time being, I put it in my ftp server, here. Username is "diesel", no password.

Hopefully this will be of some use.

Monochrome bitmap. It is a scan of a sheet that is 17" wide, 11" long, and double sided.
I just pasted the second side into the same image on the lower half. How about I email it to you? The FTP server was a very temporary solution.

Well guys, I broke down and had Ford Dealer put in a new CPS today. Process of ellimination I guess. I told the service writer that I wanted the old on (black w/152k still working) and he said there would be no problem. After the work was done and I asked for my part back the mech. said they had to turn in the old one to prove the exchange. I told him it sounded like a BS to me but I suppose there is not much to do about it. Don't have any idea if this will have any effect on the original problae but have to try everything. UndeadMechanic----I can give you an email add. if you still want to send me that info. you scanned. Let me know. Thanks, Dale

Well guys, I've finally found my main fix for this dilema. Believe it or not it is a bad battery all along. I had to finally break down and buy my own load tester and test it myself. Whalla! The needle in the tester went flat into the "BAD" zone. The parts dealer that tested it for me the first time told me they were both good. Today I called and Interstate dealer in the next town over and he also gave me a rash of crap and said the only test that they honor is the old "Hydrometer Test". Back to the parts house to buy a hydrometer tester and came back home to test. Whalla! One very weak cell and one deader than a doornail. I wonder if they will still say that it is my charging system that is bad? The parts house said that if they exchanged the batt. for me that he would not give me a warranty with it. We'll see tomorrow. Teaches me a old lesson thought. Never trust what the other guy says. Do the tests yourself. Thanks to ever one that tried to help. Dale Guess we can close this one out....

Sure, I'll email it to you. PM me your address. I meant for CSIPSD to give me his email address so I could mail it to him to decide if it was sticky worthy or not.

Yea, Undead, I knew that's where you going but I had'nt seen CSIPSD's return so I just thought I would ask for it. Now I see he is going to look at it so I'll wait for his response. Hopefully it is something we can all benefit from and I can copy from here. Thanks, Dale

Ps: Truck is running good so far

i know this is an old old thread but has there been an increase in the reliability for the newer grey sensors? mine is tarting to take a poop on my wife. all symptoms point to the CPS. anyways its a 25.00 part and figured worst case if it isnt the problem i would have a spare then.

or should i buck up and order the International version?
