How could I check the "fuel sender" to see if it is indeed bent?
Thanks CSIPSD!

Drop the tank or remove the bed... Both are about the same amount of work. If your a long bed an empty tank should take 38 gallons, short bed will take 28...
Any less then 35 and your pick up tube is broken or something is amiss there.

You will have to unbolt the filler neck and unhook the tail light harness, but other then that, if you don't have a bunch of crap bolted to the bed (like I do... Tool boxes, fuel tanks, air tanks and so on.) its much easier then dropping the tank.
Wow. What a run on sentence...

Dennis is not a site sponser, I am trying to get him over here but he goes to Ford Diesel only sites more then all brands...
He has some of the best fuel system stuff for the 7.3 you can get.
ITP 7.3L Fuel Tank / Pre-Pump Kit
I would get this, and go from there... But first we need to find out if your tank is truely empty or if your just sucking air from the mixing valve.
You could just as easy have a weak/bad fuel pump... My truck will not keep fuel pressure if the tank is not full! I have a 110gal tank feeding the main that keeps it going. Something I have to fix but for now I just keep the big tank full all the time! LOL
