The TS 6 posistion is a really good chip to get. My friends got one on his 02 and its pretty nice. The edge juice isn't to bad but its hard on the tranny.

I would stay away from the shelf tune programers. Get one from a well know company such as DP Tuner, Tony Wildman, Power Hungry Performance(PHP) or TS. I have a Dp tuner and have been really happy with it. Others I've talked to that run the other tuners I mentioned are also happy with theirs, tit for tat, personal preference. Which ever one you buy, invest in a 4inch exhaust, intake and guages first. Since you are new to these trucks, go here Ford Truck Enthusiasts, 1948-2011 Ford F150, Super Duty & SUV owners community and information source. Covers F100, F-150, F250, Bronco, Ranger, Explorer, Expedition, Lighting, Escape and More and then to the forum section and scroll down to the 99-03 7.3 section. You can learn a heck of a lot there. And dont be afraid to ask questions, nobody will bite your head off. Best forum I've ever been on. I like this one too, just a lot more posters over there.

Most of the good tuners out there use TS blanks for there tunes. I have run DI, TS, Wildman, Swamps, Elite and others... Its a long expensive road, but I would recommend Swamps right now, but you really want to go with something specific to the 7.3, not a generic programer, ie superchips, bullydog, or edge. Most of those have not changed or done any updating to the 7.3 platform in years!

Let us know if there is anything ya need! And Welcome to the site!!!

There are a lot of good tuners out there. DP, DI, TW, Swamps, PHP etc. give them all a call, talk with them, and pick your poison and run with it. u will be pleased with any one of them i am sure
