New guy and need some help!
Hey guys I recently sold my show truck and daily driver and am now in the market for a diesel. I have had my heart set on a 2000 F350 7.3 with 175xxx on it. I am getting close to purchasing it and am kinda worried about the milage. What would you guys recommend. I am going to eventually want to mod the motor and make some more power out of it but I have seen these trucks run into the 400's with out an issue. Just need some input. Thanks guys

Welcome to the site!
I'm not a powerstroke guy but the 7.3 is a reliable engine. I've got a friend with 190K and he's running around 400hp on his and the biggest issue he had was his HPOP dying on him. Then on the other side, I've got a 97 cummins witht 230K on it and it, in my opinion is heavily modded and it keeps chugging along.

I doubt your really seeing 400hp out of most of the trucks... It takes injectors to make much above 320 or so.
I see alot of people talk like they have 400-450hp... then they jump on a dyno and see 300-320... there faces show the suprise.
There good motors, keep them around 350-400 and they will run forever. Anything above that and its a crap shoot.

when i first got my truck, before i knew much..i added up the horsepower numbers listed for certian products, ie exsaust...intake..chip,..turbo..etc...if it were true,..id be well over 400-450 hp without even touching the fuel system...
then i rode in a truck confirmed at 500 ponies...wow!!...what a ride!!!
i dont get on the dyno, due to the fact that id rather not pay someone to let me down...im sure im in the 320ish range or so..that seems good enough for me for now...maybe not later when i find a good deal on a common rail...
