Default 99 F250/7.3L PS Diesel Skipping

Last week I was driving up the road and my truck skipped. It acted like it missed due to fuel pickup or something, it done it again on up the road and the Service Engine Soon light came on. After I turn the truck off, the Service Engine Soon light goes off and then it will eventually skip again and the alarm comes back on. This past weekend, the truck actually cutoff on me at 60mph. I put it in neutral and restarted. I took it by Advance while it had the Service Engine Soon light on and had them check the code and no code was found. does anyone have any suggestions? I appreciate any advice. Thanks!

thanks bigjake, I just put one on back in July not knowing there was a recall. i just recieved my recall a few weeks ago, so I will try that. I want to believe its bad fuel but I don't reckon there is a sensor for bad fuel that would trigger an alarm.

Does the 'wait to start' light come on also?

Does the cluster act like someone cycled the key when this happens? Sounds like a PCM reset to me.

Thanks Big Angry Hillbilly, no sir, the wait to start light does not come on when this happens. It actually will stutter or skip two or three times before the Check Engine Soon light comes on. I had the PCM replaced back in July when I changed the CPS. Is there a way to reset the PCM without a computer? I've also noticed that when I got my truck back about a month ago from the shop the battery seems week. Any connection to the other issue? Thanks for everyones advice, I'm stupid when it comes to working on engines.

Big jake, I took my truck to the Ford dealership for the CPS recall and I drove it over 300 miles this weekend and didn't have any issues, so I really think that was the problem. Thanks again!

cam position sensor was the rootcause, Ford had a recall on this, so you might check with the Ford recall department first, I think they are $40-$50 and you should be able to change it out yourself
