Default 7.3 and off road diesel

Hey guys, im searching for a new rig. I am debating to go backwards and go with lets say an 03 7.3 vs the new 6.4. For 12K i can get a truck with 125K miles on it, put new injectors in, new pump, exhaust, 04-07 grille, some aftermarkets goodies, and still be in at under 20G, rather then paying 40K for something brand new.

Im wondering how the 7.3handles alt fuel. I used to run home heating oil (diesel dyed red) in my 12v and as long as it was filtered it ran great. And only paying 1.50 a gallon. I KNOW you shouldnt so lets say this is a "WHAT IF" situatiojn

how finiky is the 7.3 when it comes to fuel quality?

The "Red" fuel differance is a myth. Refined the same. Dyed only for tax reasons only. Run it in a road vehicle, your not paying Highway tax. and they'll shove it way up there if your caught.

The blue is road use. It's taxed. Meaning you pay a highway tax when you purchase, just like buying gasoline. Red, better known as off highway use, is just that. It's for equipment and heating purposes. Your house isn't using any public roads so you would'nt pay a highway tax.

as far as smell, take a blindfold test.
