Welcome to diesel bombers. . My wife has a 00 powerstroke and i put just a TS 6 pos. chip on it. Its a heck of a chip ( for the money ) it smokes hard on 6 but clears up to a haze. i wouldnt recomend using 5 and 6 without SOME tranny upgrades. Hers is an auto and it does not like 6 for very long. IMO, Rkadcock has a good option too!. you might want to think about tranny and guages first.

x2 on the gauges. Nothing like a fried piston to ruin your fun

Well you can use the chip without any tranny mods but if you drive around like a jackass and just gun it at every light your going to burn it up real quick! If you use it every so often you can prolong your tranny's life.
But anyways, a triple disc torque converter and a double deep tranny oil pan for sure and maybe a new valve body. Ask some of the site sponsors and they can hook you up on tranny upgrades plus the chip

I personally like suncoast... When I got my tranny on my 97 the people over there were awesome and super helpful! Especially with me doing the Allison conversion. Theirs also ATS but I'm only familiar with their turbos and I've heard stories from my shop of having issues with ATS's tranny parts

For a torque converter look at the ATS 5-Star, it has 5 discs instead of three, they also have a 3 disc TC too, and I love my ATS transmission and I also have the TS 6 pos the combination is awesome.
