Default how is the mileage in 02?? behind the times

I am looking at a stock 02 7.3L and was wondering what kind of fuel mileage and problems to expect past 110,000. Actually looking at an 00 and an 02, both about the same miles. They both have autos and no known history on either of them they are about $15k and $13k respective to age.

Anybody?

I currently have a 97 psd and only get maybe 15 mph.

You will get the same milage with the Superdutys as well. They have larger injectors, but better tuning and a IC...

What are your plans for the truck down the line... HP? Just a tow rig?

if your thinking HP down the line, get the 2000... It has Forged rods, good for about 500-600hp, where as the 2002 has PMR's and is good for about 350-400hp.

Just because your truck was built in a certain year doesn't automatically mean you have PMR or Forged rods.

Inspection Hole Check

Here is the engine serial number break down for the forged and powdered connecting rods. Check you engine serial number on the valve cover build sticker or you need to look at the block where the oil cooler is bolted to it .
Start of production thru 1425746 are Forged Rods
1425747 thru 1440712 are Powdered Rods
1446713 thru 1498318 are Forged Rods
1498319 thru final production run are all powdered
Or you can break them then you know what you have-Ha Ha-Just kidding
The reason for the break in serial numbers is a "test" run to be sure there were not any issues with the powdered rods. Once the process was production tested the powered rod process was used until the end of production.

Correct to a point, but the general guide line is 99-2000 is Forged, 2001 and up is PMR's

My wife's truck is 01 PSD and she gets around 13-14 in town (all stock) and 16-17 on the highway. I average a little higher when I drive it.

My buddy has a 99 CC LB with a DP Tuner chip and it gets 21 running down the interstate at 70 mph. In town it doesn't do too hot. ( He suffers from lead footitis like I do.)
