Default battery light

i just put a new alt. in my 00 250. my battery light was on, so i changed it. here just recently ive noticed at night my battery light flickers on and off. i actually have a few questions, is it normal when i let off the gas my lights brighten? and what is the most common thing to go bad pully wise, i have to cut two grooves out of my belt to keep it from shredding, it only seems to shred when i turn the chip up tho.

sounds like a bad ground wire problem. double check all battery connections and check wire on back of alternator. could be loose.

what do you mean cut 2 grooves out of the belt!!! you should NEVER EVER have to do that, unless you have the wrong belt. the bearings fail in the pullies.. take the belt off and check all your pulleys

when i bought the truck it had a shredded belt, it only had like 3 grooves, i put a new one on. about a week later it got trashed. put another one on, two days later same thing, got another one cut a few grooves off, and havnt had an issue yet. with the belt off, checked the pullies they all spin fine and dont rock side to side.

start the truck and and drive the thing around. to get the pullies hot. then check them.

also check the harmonic damper when the engine is running. watch for any kind of wobble

it means its probably bad. how bad is the wobble
is the rubber pushed out on any side further than the other??
NEED TO KNOW INFO: a bad harmonic damper can destory and engine and trans mission, mainly tc, flex plate

it throws the hole rotating assembly out of balance..

if u are shredding belts, your tensioner could be going out also. quick and inexpensive job. There is a site somewhere that had pics of bad tensioners, so it would show u what to look for.

There is no way you should be doing a thing to a new belt... Bad tensioner, bad balancer or something is not in alignment for the belts...
