99 7.3 starts but wont do anything

Default 99 7.3 starts but wont do anything

my friends 99 7.3 powerstroke with a edge evolution with attitude. it will start but won't do anything, as soon as you press the gas peddle it just dies. What could cause this?

Never heard of that before. Tell him to try pulling the edge off for starters.

Maybe you need to press on the diesel pedal instead of the gas pedal.

Have you tried removing the Edge and seeing if it will run correctly in stock form?

The gas pedal or brake pedal?? If it's the brake pedal, it probably has something to do with the EGT/theft shutdown. I agree, have him remove the module and see what happens.

they edge has been unplugged fore a month or so.

He has not put a code reader on it but we could not get the Edge to work to use its code reader feature. No codes.

Maybe make a trip to the parts store (in another vehicle obviously) and see if they have a code reader you can borrow. Problem may be with the APPS, IDK.

That would probably be a waste of time--most of the generic Autozone/Checker/et. al. code readers won't work on a Powerstroke. It would be worth getting one of THESE so you can have a scan tool with you all the time vs. something like AutoE which would work quite nicely as long as you remember to bring the laptop with you.
