Default 7.3 turbo deisel issue glow plug relay

1999 E350 7.3 turbo deisel glow plug relay. I'm trying to figure out the wiring on the glow plug and heater relays, see attached photo. I was told the rear one is the glow plug relay, I have the battery on one big termenal and the brown and yellow big wires on the other one along with a small yellow wire on it also, I added a small piece of black wire because it was a little short. I then have the two small red wires going to

the small terminals. My van has a block off on the manifold so the large wire going to that is gone. I know the large wire from the battery goes on the large terminal but have no clue on the small ones, red with yellow stripe purpul and a solid red. I would greatley appreciate it if somebody can let me know if I have glow plug relay hooked up right also. Thanks

Default 1999 E350 7.# Turbo Diesel

I appreciate the response. I really know nothing about electrical so this has been my biggest issue. I had a new motor put in this vehicle about 5 years ago, only has about 60,000 miles on it and I have always had to plug it in even when it was not that cold out. There are short wires and longer wires so I just assumed the short ones go to the back relay - big red cable, mid-sized bronze and yellow together and then two small red wires. I have the red and the brown/yellow hooked up like shown in your picture but didn't know about the two small red wires, relay has a #1 & #2 stamped on it. I was told that the front relay is for the Air Intake Heater, mine has a plug in it so can I just do away with this relay and these wires or do some of them still need to be hooked up. There is one large read cable and three small wires, solid red, red with a yellow line and then a solid purple. The large red one that would of been connected to the heater was tucked away and wrapped in black tape. Sorry for responding with a book but a couple of weeks ago I noticed the van would miss for a split second and then it would start cutting off while driving and when I came to a stop, purchased a new CPS, fuel pump, above mentioned relays, fuel filter, changed the oil including in the reservoir along with pulled the unit in the tank and cleaned the two small filers but still it would start. I decided to pull the fuel filter housing to clean it out really good and noticed that the two wires at connector into the IPR valve were twisted and looking closer I noticed that they were exposed and touching one another so I hope this created the no start problem. Again sorry for the book, just need to get this vehicle back on the road. Thanks.

I think the wires to the AIH Relay have to be hooked up. I'm not positive as I have an early 99 with no AIH. I know Riffraff makes a AIH code eliminator Air Intake Heater Plug Code Eliminator for Ford 7.3L 99-03 that looks something like this installed,

Air Intake Heater Code Eliminator

I imagine though connecting the end of the wire to one of the AC compressor bolts would provide a better ground instead of the base of the AIH relay.

Yes the two wires going to the IPR need to be properly covered and secure. That can cause a rough running no start issue.
