Default Got a 99 7.3L last night, questions

I got a 99 7.3L extended cab, auto. Has 250k miles, what are good things to do to it first? I have a 300 $ budget ( last of my income return money ) what should I do to it first? I'm Thinkin of cuttin the exhaust and run stock straight until I get a 4 inch, would that be okay? And are there good diy intakes ?

I love my S&B intake on my 2002, I think I paid like 220... I would not recommend MBRP's 4" TB kit for that truck, I own one and am not at all happy with the fit or finish of that system... When my refund check comes in I'm going to build my own 4" using only the downpipe from MBRP... I do like my best friends 4" diamond, it went together easier and fits better

You can't do much with 300, best your going to do is straight pipe it and and an intake

Ya I'ma just do intake and exhaust but no shops here have a 3.5inch pipe for straight piping the stock exhaust and Napa doesn't have the diy filter in stock, any from auto zone will work? Or local shops. And my fuel gauge is stuck on full, how can I fix it??

any brand filter will work, just have them cross reference the 6637 number. been a while since i have had or seen stock exhaust but i thought i was 3" not 3.5". sound like a short or something in the fuel sending unit
