Default Napa 6637 question

So looking to add the 6637 filter kit from riffraff. How ever I am wondering if it would be best to replace the stock tubing with aftermarket 4" and then the filter, or just leave stock tubing. will I gain anything from adding the 4"? Also do you gain any sound from going to the 6637 filter? And will a 4" also add sound

About me I am very new to the diesel world. Had a 88 ford about 6 years ago and that was it until now. Which I have a 100% stock 2002 Ford F250 Crew Cab Lariat 7.3. I only got the truck for towing our bass boat and my run around rig. Love it so far but do plan on a few small upgrades ie intake, exhaust and maybe a tuner.

Thanks for any help

Brian

Just buy a filter from Napa and get a piece of scrap 4 inch exhaust pile clean it up and use that.

Your saying no kit just add the filter correct?
So second question is sound. I want to hear the turbo. Will just the filter add do that or will a full aftermarket tube do that?

Thanks for you help

if you want more turbo noise, get a 4 or 5 inch straight pipe and put on it, will do more for turbo whistle than any intake upgrade, but the napa filter upgrade is also a good thing to have.

The Donaldson 085046 is the marine grade version of a 6637. It doesn't matter if this one gets wet so I feel that it would be a better choice for an open element filter. Been running one in my truck for a few years and been happy with it so far. Either one would be better than the factory filter.

So the exhaust is actually where you hear the turbo spool from? That makes sense.

Thanks guys

I had not heard of the Donaldson before so will check that out. Does it filter better?

I can't find that part number any where. Not even on donaldson site. I'd like to do this but need the marine grade cause it rains alot here. Any ideas since its not vehicle specific?

I don't see why you need marine grade unless your going into water over your hood and if your doing that'd you should worry about other things. Rained All the time with my 6637 mod not one problem.

You actually hear the turbo whistle from the intake, the exhaust just improves flow therfore allowing it to whistle more
