Overdrive problems?
OK guys, if you are having problem with your overdrive not working some times or not at all, it is probably a broken wire. All you have to do is remove the plastic trim around the steering column. You will see 3 small wires that come out of the shifter. It is pretty common for these wires to break where they go across the top of the steering column. It is much better to solder the wires instead of a crimp connector. Make sure you wrap the wires in electrical tape to prevent chaffing.
I have also seen this cause a no throttle response and no gauges. If you're have that issue, check the O/D wires. If the wires are ok, then it could be the O/D switch itself. To remove that, carefull pop the plastic ring off on the end of the shifter. This part is prone to breaking so use a small pick. Then put the pick in left side of the clear plastic piece that said OVERDRIVE ON/ OFF and gently pry over to the right. This piece will slide out with the switch.
Hope this helps.
