I have a 00 7.3 crewcab with a 6" lift,,,just had the stock gears replaced with 410's...the waste gate sounds like a long swoosh when it opens...should it open that way or should it be a cleaner sound? also....what are the benefits of replacing the stock exhaust with an after market?

 

Your waste gate is most likely fine. Aftermarket exhausts are great for sound but there really aren't huge benefits to having one. You'd just be going from 3 1/2" to 4 or 5" depending on what you want...

 

You will NEVER hear a stock wastegate on a 7.3... Sounds like you have turbo surge...
