Default 97 powerstroke

hey guys i recently just bought a 97 powerstroke its got a four inch lift with 35s under it it has 140,000 and has an e40d auto tranny my question is that it has one of those banks transcontrol modules in and i read that they were junk and to take them out i was wondering what you guys think, if i should take it out or not and what it would involve to replace it. i want to do a few upgrades to make some more power so i can pull away from other vehicles but not to make it unreliable either i now have a 3inch down pipe what do you guys think for upgrades i was thinking like a swamps custom tuned chip and a cold air intake, would that be to much for the tranny

Chip and intake is a good start. It all depends on what kind of power you want. If you do the custom chip I would take the banks controller out.

Without changing the hpop I wouldn't go bigger then some stage 1s and as for gauges, isspro is all I will buy.
