ihello everyone, im a new diesel owner and went with a 97 regular cab 4x4 psd, its an automatic and I've heard good and bad about these trannys. so far no problems with the tyranny its self but it feels like I have some hesitation when I romp down on the gas pedal, feels sluggish sorta. not just from takeoff but seems more often than normal. the truck has 200,000 miles but everything is sound from what I've heard from the local diesel mechanics around here. never been chipped and had stock exhaust when I got it. I have since put 5 inch exhaust with 8 inch tip, diamond eye 3 inch dp and my own 4 inch cold air kit made from some parts laying around the house. sounds mean now! just wondering what the hesitation could be and if anyone has had experience or heard of this. any help is greatly appreciated thanks

oh and id like some input on the ts chip! is it worth it without bigger injectors or would I be better off getting some baby swamps and a custom tuned chip from swamps diesel? I mean I know the answer to that but money is always an issue when it comes to a set of 2000.00 injectors. Haha. like I said im new to the diesel thing but some input is greatly appreciated on some future mods I could do.

you sould get a little black smoke when you romp on it but i would not worry about it.I ran a ts with my stock injectors and i felt a petty good differance but the most horsepower you will get out of the stock 90cc injectors is around 70 so some bigger injectors with a custom tune will make a huge differance

if it's stock, you will get a un noticable amount of black smoke. i put a exhaust on my 94 in febuary and have put on about 3- 4K and the pipe isn't completely black yet. you're fine

thanks guys, I put my new filter in just a while ago and we will see how she runs tomorrow. it started much better I can tell you that so maybe it fixed my problem we'll see. probably gonna get my ts chip sometime this coming week! does anyone know how the water/method injection does on these older powerstrokes? I heard the dodge guys have good things to say about it but im just not a dodge fan. Haha. im just looking for good power gains that wont hurt my truck. or my wallet too bad

it was brown. looked pretty dirty to me. . when I took the filter out it was a smaller filter than what I put in, it was shorter. don't know if that makes a difference or not and my new one didn't have a screen as the old one did. but it started much easier and idled better it seemed. didn't have a chance to drive it but it couldn't have hurt it that's for sure
