I know Napa "Gold" filters are simply Wix filters with another label, not sure who makes them for Motorcraft. People will down a brand due to preferance, I've always heard both are good. I prefer Wix on gassers(my preferance), I run Donaldson or Fleetguard filters on my diesels(I can get them dirt cheap).

Wix(aka Napa) makes two filters for the 7.3...

The 51734, which is nominally rated at 21 microns...based on betas of 2/20=10/30, the filter is 50% efficient at 10 microns, 95% efficient at 30 microns.

The 51734XE is the extended service filter from Wix for the 7.3, it is nominally rated at 10 microns, with betas of 4/75=10/30, meaning it is 75% efficient at 10 microns and 98.6% (aka absolute) efficient at 30 microns.

The motorcraft, long rumored to made by purolator, is 18 microns at 98%...no betas.

I know fram makes or has the rights to the 6.0 oil filter and racor makes the fuel filter for the 7.3 so Lord only knows.

Based on the numbers, the FL1995 is a better filter than the 51734/51734XE and is usually cheaper, the FL1995 is 18 microns at 98%, the 51734 is 95% at 30 microns and the 51734xe is 98.6% efficient at 30 microns. Personally, I would go with the MC filter but really either one is good.
