Default Got some questions on my new beater 7.3

I just bought a 97 7.3 2wd single cab for 600 bucks. they guy told me it knocked so i went to take a look at it and i heard what he thought was a knock and it doesnt sound like a knock to me, it diesels really hard at idle and barely idles. i took it for a drive and floored it has no power at all, it didnt have enought power to get up my driveway, it only revs to about 2k rpm and takes a while to get there, 340k on it and 11k on a new jasper trans. ive searched the forum and cant really find anyone with the solution to the same issues this truck has. it doesnt smoke at all the guy started it with ether because it needs glow plugs bad!
so i bought the truck and havent picked it up but im wondering if anyone has any ideas? i worked on a 6.0l that needed injectors that ran the same way before i did the injectors so im leaning towards that. i plan on putting the drivetrain in my 72 f100 but i would like to make it run good in the truck first before i pull it

could be injectors, fuel pump, HPOP, or all of them i would pull the valve covers and start it and see if the injectors are pumping oil

I would spend the 360 dollars and get yourself AutoEnginuity... It will help you diagnose the problem as it will show you everything the computer sees.. That will give you a direction hopefully. It's going to be better than pissin in the wind...

ok i got the truck home and immediatly ripped the vavle covers off, drivers side injectors are all firing, passenger however has no power coming out of the injector harness so its only running on 4cyl. i suspect idm or the harness? is there any way to test the idm? or just replace it

Check/replace pigtails going into and out of the valve covers, and the gasket itself.

follow the wires that plug into the outside of the gasket and look for damaged wires
