Question Do powerstrokes have silencer rings?

Do powerstroke have turbo silencer rings? My brother's '95 Dodge has one that we took out and it sounds great! I am thinking of buying a powerstroke this year, and I want to know more about them.

Default wicked wheel or other?

97 7.3 PSD. Will a WW or anything else make turbo whistle louder? Have read that this model has that same wheel in from factory. Thanks for answering another rookie question. Addicted to turbo whistle.

Saw an Exhaust Whistle on the gag shelf at a local gas station.

the 94-97 and the e99s have a louder turbo whistle becuase ford changed the compresser wheel in late 99. on my 97 the whistle is crazy loud from the tail pipe and under the hood, just get a OBS and straight pipe it and put a custom cold air and you will get plenty of whistle and also dont forget to take the pancake downpipe out and put a 3in in there. I noticed a pretty cool sound in the cab from the turbo winding down once i installed a 3in DP

If look in my post called "'96 ford powerstroke To buy, or not to buy?", I already had that in the plan, but thank you so much for the downpipe idea! Also, is DP short for down pipe?

no problem truckguy99. As for buying a older PS you cant go wrong with any of them, the only differance between the 97s and the older ones is the hp rating is 215 on the 96s and older and on the 97s it is 225 and they have a different air intake boot on the 97s made after june of 97. I would go with a manual because the autos are not the best and if you plan on doing a chip or injectors or both a manny tranny will hold up better with a good clutch. Good luck on finding your self a POWERSTROKE you will not be dissapointed

If i had to do it again I would buy an auto. Granted they are not the strongest stock but after you rebuild it they are one of the best autos you can get. Someday I'm swapping my manual for an auto.
