Default Glow plug relay burning

Today i decided im gonna fix my glow plugs. i figured they were my problem, wont start in the mornings if isnt plugged in. tested all 4 on passenger side and all were fine. so instead of pulling valve cover on drivers we figured we'd check the relay first just in case. we figured out the relay was bad, went to napa bought a new one for 80 bucks. put it on, fixed the problem but then the relay started to smoke really bad. the one and two relays in the fuse box under the hood were ticking really bad so we pulled them out and it stopped smoking. with these two unplugged the truck will not start. we are thinking the one and two relay switches are bad or maybe the relay timer under the dash isnt cycling the glow plug relay and just leaving it open. making the relay itself burn out. Just trying to fix my truck and suggestions?

Thanks Kctyphoon. ive been reading the other post haha people have big egos around here! thanks for helping me out and not leave the site. Im thinkin screw the relay system all together and just doing a switch i can control the plugs myself.. any idea which wire to splice?

If you do decide to buy a new relay i would put the old one back on and try it and make sure it does not smoke so you know that its a good chance the new relay is bad and not something else

The old one is burnt too. thats why were thinking that the cycle timer under the dash is stuck open
