Default 97 7.3 needs rebuilt!

hey guys! im lookin at buyin a 97 7.3 2wd truck with 340k on it and a fresh tranny with 8k on it. i wanna put the motor in my 72 f100. supposedly the truck has thrown a rod but still runs and i have yet to hear it but im lookin at rebuilding it anyways its to good a deal to pass up!

what im lookin for is info on rebuild kits and what things to look out for when tackling this job motor wise, im not worried about wiring it or anything just mostly info on these motors or things to be aware of!

also one more question: im wondering if anyone has ever tried anything with runnin 2 hx35 cummins turbos for a twin setup?

Any info is much appreciated
thanks guys!

The Kit from ford is what I'd use.

I'm going to listen to it tomorrow and put the scanner on and do an injector contribution test

how do you mistake a bad injector for broken rods? what's a "injector kill test"?

Injector contribution test shows how each injector is contributing to its cylinder

Iv heard trucks with bad injectors and trucks with broken rods they sometimes have a similar sound but its not common but people have mistaken it though, not saying its always gonna sound like the motor has a broken rod but just have injector problem. Most of the time it is easy to tell if you have heard it before. I had a buddy who thought he broke a rod and he had it checked and it was just the injectors having severe problems, i dont know all the details but it happens

broken rod- sounds like you're hitting a bucket with a stick. bad injector- sounds like it has a miss...
