Default 96 crank no start

I have read a lot of post about this and checked what I have read with no good results. Let me tell you all what happened, was driving about 40 MPH, let off throttle to slow for RR crossing, check engine light came on, (before I hit crossing), truck just quit running, could not start back up, but cranks over just fine. Checked Engine oil, its perfect, Swapped IDM, no luck, Changed CPS, no luck, Checked all fuses, all are good. Rpm gauge does move when cranking but not a lot, no smoke out of tail pipe, tried unplugging fuel bowl heater, but not sure what wire it is, but the #22 maxi fuse not blown. Could bad valve cover gasket/harness cause this, could they cause IDM, & or PCM to go out. Going to check HPOP level tonight, fuel filter has fuel in it about half way, Changed IPR, Injectors, Valve cover gaskets, a couple yrs ago, has ran bad ever since. I am at a loss with this, any info is greatly appreciated. I am tired of throwing parts at it, & our Ford dealer here does not have a good diesel dept.

i've never heard of a superchip frying the PCM. especially burning the VC plugs. i know of 2 cases where edge has fried the PCM tho...

No, I have not, I am trying to find someone that has an extra. I do not want to fork out a bunch of money and find out after the fact that was not the problem. I have a couple more things I am going to try this weekend, If nothing works out I wthink I will just bite the bullet and hope for the best.

defently check the plugs going because they might be burnt up causing the injectors not to fire and get fuel to start the truck
