pcm question
I have a question about my pcm. The code is SOD4.I found a list of pcm codes and it says my pcm is for a '94, my truck is a '95. The guy I got the truck from said he replaced the PCM once. What's the difference bewteen the PCM for a '94 and '95? The code for the 95 is SOD5. If I had to get a new pcm could I use the SOD5 pcm? I'm just curious in the difference between the two.
I can tell you that I have swapped them between my 96' and 97' for diagnostic reasons and once so that my old code specific chip could go with it. There was no difference that I could tell. I absolutely cannot say for sure it will be the same for you...for what it's worth.
Well the calibration codes and model codes are the same for all the 94 and 95's with manual trans. I'm assuming the guy I bought the truck from put the '94 pcm in my truck when he replaced the original. I went on car-parts.com and typed in my VIN and it gives all the options for pcm's for my truck and some were listed for a '94 and some for a '95. They all were F5TF but the last three letters were different. They were f5tf-btb, f5tf-btc, f5tf-btd, f5tf-bte, and f5tf-btf. Mine is the f5tf-bte and its the only one listed as a '94 pcm.
