Default Glow Plug Replacement Question

I have 3 dead plugs on the drivers side bank. I understand that the valve cover gaskets are reusable? Any tricks to keep in mind when removing/replacing the cover?

Also the rubber intake boot that goes into the turbo has some sort of sensor in it, and while I was cleaning things up after I got the truck, I took it off, but found that there is not enough slack in the wire to move the boot much. Is there a connector somewhere so you can remove the boot? Will I even need to move it to get the valve cover off?

Thanks!

A sensor in the intake boot? Not sure I know what you are talking about here...

You just need to remove the air intake. Then you should be clear to remove the valve covers. The gaskets are reusable.

yes, the gasket is reusable. check the plugs to make sure it didn't short out. if it did, you need to replace it. or if the plastic is cracked. where exactly is the sensor? i can't remember there being a sensor in the intake. except the temp sensor. just take all the intake tubes off. all the way to the turbo and make it easy. i'd replace all 8. and go with motor craft GP's.

unless he's talking about the CCV tube?

I found a good deal on a set of Bosch plugs, I saw them recommended in a different thread. The "sensor" or whatever is in my intake is about 2-3 inches away from the turbo, and comes in on the underside. All I remember is I tried to get the intake off of the turbo and could not get that boot very far away from the turbo because it was hooked up to something...

Gotcha! I'll look closer at it when I dive into the plug replacement. Thanks!

Is it actually in the intake boot or the aluminum housing that the boot attaches to?

It goes into the orange boot that attaches to the air filter side of the turbo.

Not the ccv then... I dont remember any sort of sensor in my orange boot or in the new boot I installed. Take a picture if you can.

I'll try to get a pic when I can. The truck is Canadian spec I think, daytime running lights, and stock block heater. If that makes a difference...
