Default 4wd problems

i have a 97 f250. when i go to engage 4wd the transfer case sounds like it shifts good and really gears down the truck like it should in low. but i lock my hubs and the front tires do not engage. i crawl under the truck when the hubs are free and in 2wd and spin front driveline which spins fine and the right front axle will spin too. but left will not. i dont know much about these i beam axles but im wondering snapped axle? or worn out hubs?

Hubs are probably bad.

i'd say hubs. it will only spin the one side since there isn't a locker. pull the cap and see how much metal falls out
