Default i really need help guys !

i own a 1997 Powerstroke 7.3 when im driving i will sometimes lose throttle like i put it in neutral or something. then if i tap on the throttle it will come back but shifting will be very hard and abrupt sometimes it will shift very fast to the higher gears. the check engine light will come on and the OD light will flash but when i let off the throttle it will go off. i bought a TPS for a 460 today had to mount it kinda pivoted it worked fine in the driveway just throttlein it up and everything but after about 5 mins of driving it went right back to doing it... i really need help i cleaned off the speed sensor as well any thing will help please i dont know what to check

First guess was the part you just replaced...

Check the main wire harness to the PCM and to the motor.

The hard shifting and such makes me think there could be a short or water in the PCM.

check your front wheel bearings and make sure they are not rough or loose....wheel bearings will destroy a automatic on these trucks

I am more concerned with water getting into the PCM and on the board.

Checking the wires for chafing and such is good, as well check the connectors to make sure they are tight and fully seated.

the trans com. shifts from wheel speed, load & throttle % if the com. thinks the truck it is going a diff. speed than it really is or needs to shift and it really doesn't it will end up frying it...seen this many times

Maybe in a Dodge...

The front wheel bearings have NOTHING to do with shifting on a powerstroke.
