ya it worked. is that bearing scored at all? i dont think breaking the bolts would snap the rod in half. i think that would just free it from the crank and you'd have a knock.

and the motor wont turn over? really?

it looks scored. Is it scored? looks scored like an oil issue. that engine ran on its side didn't it? not for long at all but long enough to do damage probably

just curious how long was it run on its side? the shocking thing is that engine made it 500 miles after being run on its side. the thing of it still is why wont the motor turn over. the only reason i could think of is if the piston dropped in front of the crank but that would mean it would still turn the other way. in neutral that engine should turn. if it is just locked then its a tough call. then i'd assume it happened on that drive. i'd have to have it torn down and the evidence in front of me and i'd be able to tell you what happened but with it being a rollover running that is the first and main suspect.

oh i'm sure you'll find some nice pieces for your mantle. i always do when an engine that broke a rod comes in. sometimes you get lucky and they dont go through the block but not often. hope ya got a spare block

The rod bearing is missing in that picture, allmost looks like it was run without the rod bearing for a while...
