weird issue

Default weird issue

im not new to the diesel wordl as im a heavy truck tech but am fairly new to this powerstroke engine i just bought this truck a few days ago was told it always hard a hard start issue and it sat alot maybe got drove 30 miles a month its got 276xxx on it so i got new gpr and glow plugs well i recently ran into a failing waterpump that i just replaced yesterday last night i took it out filled it up and decided to go home about 2 hrs later i figured it was a good time to go for a drive and see how it did i got about 5 miles from home and the tach started to be erratic and the engine sounded like it was only hitting on 3 or 4 injectors it was so bad i had to pull over then bam dead in the water waited about 5 m ins restarted fine ran great about 2 miles up the road same chit and continued this until i got home now im scared to drive it at all and i really need this truck right now sorry for the long post tried to give very accurte description of the issue..wtf is wrong with this thing.......i also forgot to mention the fact that i was sitting at a red light and it just died out of no where

Does the Check engine light come on at all?

That is certainly a possibility.
