A chip, anyone's chip, can help with MPG. BUT... Do not chip a powerstroke in the idea that you will gain mileage. You will be disapointed.

If you chip it, go with a good custom chip, and get no more then a 80hp program.

Do some research on TS style chips from custom tuners like PHP, Tony Wildman, Beans, Swamps, Gearhead, Elite... That will be the ticket when you're ready to buy one.

Clear the codes, drive it some more and see what comes up. Most of those codes are ghost codes that can mean something or nothing. If they come back, then its time to dig deeper.

For now, keep the RPM's below 2000k for your best milage and go from there.

My wifes Excursion gets between 14-16 mpg on 37's. These things are not milage kings.
the CPS recall was for 1997-2003 7.3l diesels. The Grey CPS replace by ford is known to cause poor fuel economy, Hard Starts, and contribution (injector codes) codes the black one that I stated being sold by RiffRaff.com is reliable and will last. keep the grey one in your glove compartment.

Rustin...

I have been running a Gray CPS for over 18 months now without a single issue. My wife has had one for over 2 years.

The issues with the Gray CPS are over blow, same as the orignal CPS issues that never were there.

To the OP, get your CPS from Ford, and continue driving.
