I'm just confused, I guess..

When I wrote up my thread of mods, I was being told my intake/exhaust/tuner/stage I's would be fine with a stock transmission... but as a security measure, I could install a vb/tc and be good to go...

It depends on what shape your tranny is in currently and how you drive... You drive conservatively and there is no reason your transmission shouldn't live unless its hurting now.

Ohhh ya.. that makes sense. Since the trans is BRAND new oem-Ford rebuild in my truck I think thats why everybody said I'd be ok. So beating on it once in a while/heavy-tow once in a while is ok, but since I'm a granny-driver 98% of the time, my trans will be ok?

Ya this is true. Although as I've come to find out my local diesel shop wants $700 just to INSTALL a vb/tc

If your transmission is still in good shape I would do a TC and VB at the same time.

Again, It's tough to say for sure... I know plenty of guys running around with 1's and a stock tranny.. I also know a bunch who blew tranny's with less...

Unfortunately, there is no formula that says your tranny will handle the power or not. It either does or doesn't.

I was thinking about doing the vb/tc, but in parts alone I'm up to about a grand, then labor is another 700$ (i think I can shop around and lower that a touch...) but still... thats a ton of money if I dont need to spend it.
