Default injectors reman vs. new-online vs. local

I've recently replaced 2 injectors on my 94 ford powerstroke 7.3 liter truck, now i have 4 thats out so i'm planning on just buying 6 more. THe only problem is, they cost a lot. I've looked online and found some from pensacola diesel that are remanufactured, for like $139 and called around and got a price for new non ford, brand new ones for $303, can anyone tell me what my best bet would be? should i spend the extra and get them new from a local shop or search and get a better deal online? Any advice would help. Thanks.

Please don't buy from Pensacola diesel...

A piece of advice is you get what you pay for...

If your on a budget, check out Rosewood Diesel. Jim does a budget build which will take your stock injectors and replace worn parts. He does great work. Rosewood Diesel Shop
Give him a call and talk to him about your injectors. Its worth getting them rebuilt by a reputable builder.

First off...

How do you know you have 4 injectors out? What is leading you to believe this?

If you're going to get them rebuilt and working with a tight budget, Rosewood is the best bet IMO.

What makes you think you have four injectors going out? There is a reason we ask.

The problem with remans is you don't know their condition until you get them. And if you did not see what the armature clearances are before they were torn apart and they jack with the spacers in the injectors to compensate you don't know if you are getting a good injector to start or if they are just worn out and you're going to have problems soon down the road.

Anyone who messes with the spacers or shims to correct for poppet valve wear to bring armature clearances back into spec does not make a quality injector. They are bandaids at best.

If you pull your injectors and check the armature clearances and they are a loose .002"-.004" then you can have them rebuilt. They may just need new nozzles or P&B's. However if the clearance is a tight .002" or less then they are junk and only good as cors. You'll want to buy new if you want a reliable injector. Brand new injectors (not the remans you get from Ford or IH) can be had for much less than the $303 you've been quoted.
