Fixing to tackle the downpipe project on mine as well. Did you use a crowbar to do the firewall modifying?

Would it be worth the hundred dollars to buy a porta power and save a lot of hassle and headache of trying to modify the firewall with a crowbar, or is it not as bad as what I have been told?

I just used a crowbar and took the isulation out around the pipe such gave me like 2 in. The hardest part is getting the old one out. I used a sawsall and cut the top of the pipe off when it gets skinny from up top and the cut it in half from the bottom

i just used a porta power because i had access to it. but you can use a crowbar. that will work too. and get rid of the insulation. it doesn't make that much of a difference heat wise on the fire wall.

crowbar or an axe handle anything that is atleast 2-1/2 to 3 feet long, just did this yesterday its the easiest mod ive done to the truck the hardest part is removing the old flat POS downpipe & make sure to have plenty of long sawzall blades too!! moving the seam in the firewall was a slam dunk
