Default 97 Good Buy?

Ok so my dad is looking for a new work truck his current 95 7.3 is dying quickly. Im trying to get him to go with a 12 valve but he found a 97 powerstroke. This is going to be a work truck for a foreman to drive his personal truck is an 05 3500. So my question is. Is it a good buy? its a 97 F250 ext cab 4x4 5 speed with 220K he said the guy wants around 5K for it. If this is a good buy What should we look for.

I would worry about the trans they seem to be the week link for the truck with the 7.3. If you get a good enough deal to do a rebuild if it needs it then I would buy one.

Well we also have a 94 F 250 with a 5 speed that was totaled it has a new Trans in it only thing is that its a 460 will they match up? Oh and its also a 4x4 Except the T case took a lot of the blow when it was hit. How much is a rebuild on a 5 Speed? Personally if we were going to rebuild it i would rather have an auto we only live about 50 - 75 miles from Brains truck shop in lead hill.

Well I drove it. Its not that bad for a ford the seats sag and you cant shift very fast but it does drive straight. However it feels like your riding on a lumber wagon.
