I have a 96 F250 crew cab short bed powerstroke with automatic transmission. My problem is when I hit the brake the Dome Light comes on just barely and the high mount light does not. When I open the door both the dome and high mount lights come on. Another thing I noticed is that the trailer brake controller light flickers really fast all the time. It only comes on my chevy when I hit the brakes. Also the cruise is real jerky or just shuts off and I read somewhere that it is related to the high mount brake light.

Sounds like a short somewhere... Check the passanger kick panel, thats where the wires go up the A pillar to get to the roof. I would bet there is a bad connection in there somewhere!
