Buying a '97 F-250 psd
I'm picking it up on Monday, it's a white 4-door 4x4, 6" lift, no rust, 197,000 miles, 5-speed. First off, i've never owned a manual shifted diesel, secondly, just wondering if anyone can give me a heads-up on what to expect (good or bad), mods you have done (turbo, exhaust, chips) or anything else you would like to share...Mike

Good year, and nice body style. I never could figure why they did not offer a CCLB on the OBS 250 trucks...
There tough trucks, the biggest issue you are going to have is the IFS front end. Ford calls it the Twin Traction Beam, most call it junk.
Keep your eye out for a Dana 50 or 60 and swap it out.
Chip, I would call Power Hungry Performance (one of our fine vendors)
Exhaust, a good 3" down pipe to a 4" back will let her breath, where you are I would pay the little extra for stainless
Turbo will be fine until you jump up above stage 2 injectors...
Throw a Tymar intake on it and you are good to go!

Cool. thanks for the advice. I'm pretty sure it has a solid front axle, along with a heavy-duty clutch, & an edge tuner used for fuel economy. He told me he has an intercooler, but I would need to get a few elbows. He also said he put in a F-350 turbo, is it better/bigger?

No differance between a F-250 or 350 turbo... A 7.3 turbo is all the same from 94.5 to 97 and then from 99.5 to 2003... the only bastard year is the 99.
If its got a tuner on it, get some gauges for it!
