Transmission and AAMCO Problems
I have a '97 F-350.7.3 Diesel Automatic.......bought this truck last spring from a farmer/truck driver....his shop is clean....was impressed.....225,000 on the odometer was no prob.Bought a trailer in FL. and drove down to get it,(I live in Michigan)....on the way back the light on the gear shift started flashing......well,by this time about 250,000 on the ol girl,I stop in Georgia and get a re-build.This was in Late Oct.....everybody happy......Now, Jan 01-Feb 06,Back in Florida,to pick up another trailer, take off from a light and a "bang"......no more moving......Since I'm outa state I go with the national guys AAMCO.......Now here I really start shaking...........they say I need a complete rebuild....and torque converter.... $2600.00!!
The guys from Georgia won't help....because i can't bring it to there shop.Well I bend over and take it....outa state trying to make my customers happy gotta roll......3 days waiting ...finally they pick me up at my crappy hotel.....get to the shop, watching them install my trans....cool.....watch them try to put it gear....NOTHING......manager came out and said they put the old torque converter in......mistake......any hoo.....they dropped the trans....new torque...and off we went.....FOR $2600.00!!!! ......Guess What....300 miles later Light is flashing.....and shifting hard. Now get this ....we took it to another AAMCO....and they want to charge us for the Transmission range sensor...Because that wasn't replaced ,and maybe giving bad codes.....sorry...that charge $200.00.
OK Now that I'm done venting(Oh there is a lot more) any suggestions

Screw buying the Dodge. Run the Ford. The trannys on the Fords are pretty good. AAmco is your problem. They are about worthless.
