my 97 psd did that for a while. it ended up lasting for like six months until it got to the point where it was just crazy hard shifting from 1st to 2nd. i think i did a wheelie a couple of times. took it in and the trans shop was surprised the truck even drove when they tore it down. they did an awesome job and it made me love my truck again.

Thank God you came along! I was telling my friends to automatically replace their tranny if that light ever came on! We have all taken up a collection to try and compensate you for your heroic intervention! Where should I send the check?
By the way, You will be saving yourself $1300 more and more frequently.

For those of you who do need a rebuild, if you want the finer rebuilds loaded and ready for your bombed truck, you can have them for less than any competitors. We ship nation wide including Alaska and will begin shipping Internationally Sept 1.
Fully detailed 4R100 4x4 transmission shown with Henry Ford--Founder of Ford Motor Company. Built the way he himself did things! .

Wrong! I have this problem
This can mean a million different things, some small and some very big smallest being just a bad sensor or the biggest being a trans but most common Is just your torque converter is wore out, or your oil needs to be changed. You won't know unless you take it to a ford dealer or big time diesel shop, it also can even be a miss firing piston. Also the gear slamming into gear isn't bad it is limp mode it's support to do that so that you will notice there is a problem. If you drive why this limp mode is ingaged you will burn you trans up very quick. Matter of hours. You can disconnect your battiery cables and reset your CSM and it will go away temporally make sure you let it reset for 5 mins no longer or less. Also turn any chip to stock.

Don't pull the battery cables, much easier to pull the PCM fuse.
Mine's done it twice (TC slip code) on freeway trips while running the cruise. Not sure why, but as long as I don't use cruise it won't throw a code. Flush the fluid, drop the pan and clean the magnet. And hope it doesn't come back.
