Alright so I'm brand new to the diesel world and to this forum. Just got a 96 F350 powerstroke 2wd. It's got 175k miles and automatic. Now I don't know much at all about diesels but I work on jeeps for a living and I'm mechanically inclined. Basically what the post says above. I've got some hard shifting, the torque converter locks when slowing down, my OD light is blinking and the rpm guage reads around 200rpm when started and if I rev her all the way out the tach only goes up to about 500 (not 5000). From what I've read so far it sounds like the tachometer sensor? I just would like some opinions from other before I purchase one. From what I was reading everyone else had the same issues except they were getting no Rpms at all. Anything else I might be able to try or is this a definite problem caused by the tach sensor? Any help is appreciated thanks!

 

Anyone have input they wanna share? I don't really know what to do first
