Default Injector install

I forgot to drain the cylinders when I did my injector swap. I pulled the glow plugs and cranked it over to make sure I didn't run into hydrolock issues. When doing that I noticed oil in the ground around and under oil filter. Is this normal. If you crank it with the gp's out the oil/fuel have to go somewhere right?

Correct, you would be surprised how much oil actually goes into there. i have found myself in an issue when i pulled an engine out and one of the guys in my shop decided he wanted to tear it down when i was on lunch and filled an cylinder with oil. sp i went grabbed my trusty breaker bar and slapped it on a flywheel bolt, when it came around to its upstroke (compression or exhaust) not sure is rocketed out a stream of oil 35 feet and hit the garage door 15 feet up! there was alot of oil, after rotating it about 10 times each time spraying gallons of oil (really about a quart) i used the good ol' turkey baster and reached in there and pulled the rest out. cranking it over does not get 100% of the oil. get it all some how! good luck, and i hope nothing melts or locks!!

I forgot to mention I put the valve covers on with a coue bolts to hold them so it wouldn't spray but there was still oil on the ground. Is there any other way possible for that to happen? Where could it possibly come from. I'm pretty sure it didn't come from the valve covers

If you didn't tighten down the whole valve cover my guess is it came from there. You would be surprised at how much force is behind the oil as it gets pushed out.

It was the valve covers thank you. I got everything back on tried cranking it over and then noticed it was very low on oil. Good thing I picked that up before I cranked the hell out of it. Is that normal to lose that much oil doing an injector change? And to get it firing up faster just unplug the icm an fill the hpop up and crank it for a little bit then plug it back in and try it from there?

Just fill it with oil and crank till it starts. Make sure you do an oil change real soon, a lot of diesel gets mixed in the oil

Could be a number of things. Drive it 50+ miles to get the air worked out. If the light went away when you shut it off its fine.

Okay it went away after I let it sit for a while, but it come back on just when I horse on it. In thinking it's the boost? It's peaking at just about 30psi or more on a stock turbo. That can't be to good
