generic scan tools are unable to access diag. codes on these trucks

Does it always shut off at a certain temp? My dad had an 02 dodge 24v that we were driving and it just cut off. Well we parked it and it started fine cold the next morning. But when it hit 180 degrees it would shut off and not start back. $2800 later it turned out to be the PCM...

Just saw this thread and I agree with not using the ether.

In the absence of codes, I would definitely get a genuine Motofraft CPS as the retailer ones are known to be bad right out of the bag. The fact that its cranking and theres no smoke coming out (unburnt fuel) than that's telling me the PCM isnt giving the ok for spark or fuel.

The WTS light flickering is troubling as you need this signal from the PCM so maybe its on shakey grounds. Maybe check for tightness at the 48? pin connector there in front of the mastr cylinder on the fenderwell and recheck the Valve cover harnesses. Actually sraying them down with contact cleaner is the best way to go if you must open the connection because these babies are getting old and oxidation is a killer of conductions. I use De-Oxit and its real good.

Idm possibly? I had a 95 that did the same thing. Would start in either and run for some seconds after then shut off. I know that doesn't sound like it would be it but after throwing a lot of parts at mine and some head scratching for ***** and giggle I put a new idm in and it started right up and no problems after that

I'm confused. Are you saying this truck is now fixed or not? If its not fixed than you can pull the IDM and shake it to see if there's water in there. They have a vent hole that water can enter and of course screw that up.
